HISTORIC BASEBALL PORTRAIT Portrait of the 1931 Texas League Champion Houston Buffaloes. The greatest minor league baseball team of all time. The 1931 team included future hall of famers 20 year old Dizzy Dean & 19 year old Joe Medwick before they were famous. The 1931 team holds the best record in the history of the Houston Buffaloes. Each person in the photograph is identified. This portrait actually belonged to one of the players! Dizzy Dean, Joe Medwick & Tex Carleton were also with the 1934 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals famous for the legendary “Gashouse Gang”. The portrait is 3 1/2 feet long x 13". This legendary team rich in American baseball history is a once in a lifetime for any collector. The history of each player on this team is fascinating. Search the 1931 Houston Buffaloes on the internet and read about this incredible team. You must see this amazing piece of baseball history. Quotes about Dizzy Dean"When ole Diz was out there pitching it was more than just another ball game. It was a regular three-ring circus and everybody was wide awake and enjoying being alive."-- Pepper Martin"You were attracted by the graceful rhythm of his pitching motion; the long majestic sweep of his arm as he let the ball fly; the poised alertness after the pitch. That was what counted and you knew it when batter after batter swung ineptly at pitches they couldn't even see."-- Editor of the New York Times"As a ballplayer, (Dizzy) Dean was a natural phenomenon, like the Grand Canyon or the Great Barrier Reef. Nobody ever taught him baseball and he never had to learn. He was just doing what came naturally when a scout named Don Curtis discovered him on a Texas sandlot and gave him his first contract."-- Red Smith Joseph Michael Medwick (November 24, 1911 – March 21, 1975), nicknamed "Ducky", was an American player in Major League Baseball. A highly competitive left fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals during the "Gashouse Gang" era of the 1930s, he also played for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1940-43, '46), New York Giants (1943-45), and Boston Braves (1945). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Baseball Writers Association of America in 1968, receiving 84.81% of the votes. The value - I really have no way of determining the value of this portriat. My purpose for selling this historic portrait is simple. I`m trying to stay in business. Please know that it is not greed. I must eliminate some debt in order to continue my business doing fundraisers for youth groups. If you are in a position to buy it I would be most grateful. www.benterprises.us
